Jasper County Sheriff Audit

A four state Sheriff`s department will get a visit from Uncle Sam this week. Agents from the Bureau of Justice assistance will meet with the County Treasurer and Sheriff in an audit of grant funding. The audit stems from a transfer of money during former Sheriff Bill Pierce`s administration. Authorities say 15 thousand dollars was transferred from a Sheriff`s equipment fund to the county general fund by former Sheriff Bill Pierce. Current Sheriff Archie Dunn has said the move isn`t allowed since grant money is involved and wants the county to repay the transfer.
