The fight against drugs in the Four-States is receiving a financial boost. Missouri Senator Jean Carnahan announced today that over $1 million dollars will be distributed for the Missouri Drug Eradication Initiative. The funds will flow to law enforcement officials to combat meth and other illegal drugs. Locally, the Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force will receive over $100,000 to hire two additional task force officers and provide overtime funds for existing officers. The Joplin Crime Lab will receive $120,000 to fund new equipment and staff salaries. Carnahan says she will continue to push for more federal support in the fight against drugs.
