Mercury Recycling Event

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Four-State officials are collecting toxic material from your household. The City of Joplin Recycling Department will be collecting mercury debris. Many household devices contain the hazardous material. That includes heating and cooling thermostats, thermometers and barometers, blood pressure cuffs and individual containers of elemental mercury. Since mercury is highly toxic, officials ask that you carefully pack the items for transport to avoid spillage or breakage. Then bring the items to the Joplin Recycling Center this weekend for deposit. The collection will be held from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Friday and Saturday. It`s a one-time event and will not be ongoing.
