Jim Talent Announces Campaign

Updated: January 7, 2009
A familiar face in Missouri state politics announces his bid for a new position. Republican Jim Talent officially announced he will challenge democratic incumbent Jean Carnahan for her U.S. Senate seat next year. Talent is no stranger to politics. He served 8-years in the Missouri General Assembly and then 8-years in congress. Talent left the house in 2000 to run for governor, but narrowly lost to democrat Bob Holden. Today in St. Louis, Holden said he plans to run an honest campaign. Talent plans to embark on a 2-month tour of the state, starting tonight in Joplin.
