Body Found in Spring River Ruled a Homicide by Carthage Police

CARTHAGE, MO -- Carthage Police are investigating a homicide after a body was found in Spring River.

The body is a 43-year-old hispanic male.

Officers are waiting to notify a family member before releasing his name.

They can confirm the body was found in the Spring River near the 600 block of High Street in Carthage around 9:15 A.M.

Carthage Police Chief Greg Dagnan says the body was found near an area commonly used as a homeless camp.

The major case squad has been called in to investigate.

"No body was down there," Carthage Police Chief Greg Dagnan says. "No one knew how the person died. They just found him down there deceased and usually it's a pretty populated area and usually a lot of folks down there."

Police haven't released a cause of death but an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
