BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.--The city of Baxter Springs will soon have a new veterans memorial.

The Baxter Springs Police Department is raising funds to build the memorial.

So far they have nearly 40 thousand dollars in donations for the 100 thousand dollar project.

You can see here in the mock photo...the memorial will will stretch about 35 feet long and each head stone will represent a different branch of service.

It will be located right off Main street on Route 66.

Chief Edmondson says it will be an asset to the city.

Baxter Springs Police Department Chief David Edmondson says,

It's not just something to recognize all veterans, but it will also be an attraction to this town."

If you would like to contribute to the veterans memorial you can donate money to the Baxter Springs Police Department
