PITTSBURG, KS -- Crawford County residents will soon have more health care services in their area.

The Pittsburg clinic is almost tripling in building size and doubling in staff.

The clinic will add new services. For example, an eye clinic, group therapy and will expand its pharmacy and dental clinic.

A $4.7 million Federal Affordable Health Care Grant will pay for most of the expansion.

The clinic currently is at capacity with both patients and staff.

Directors say a lack of building space means less doctors and less services for residents.

Grant funds will expand the clinic from 15,000 sq. ft. to 40,000 sq. ft.

Directors will increase the staff from 85 to 134.

"We can't grow anymore, we can't add anymore staff until we get the new building. And so this is truly a tipping point for us from doing a little to being able to do a lot," says clinic director, Krista Postai.

Funds will also help add a larger mental health unit, a new rehab gymnasium, extra waiting rooms and more.
