Woman Killed in Scooter Crash

JOPLIN, MO---Officers with the Joplin Police Department say it happened just after 5 this evening.

The 24-year-old woman was pulling out of the Dollar General parking lot on 7th Street.

Officers say she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by an suv heading eastbound.

The woman on the scooter was pronounced dead at Freeman Health System.

Police diverted westbound traffic for about 3 hours until the crash was clear.

The woman's name is not being released until her family has been notified..

No one else was injured in the crash.
