Convenience stores in rural parts of the county could be allowed to sell beer on that day.
The measure will begin in approximately 60 days. But, residents can challenge the measure with a protest petition.
The petition requires 238 registered voters from rural parts of the county.
If a petition is filed, the Sunday beer sale measure will appear on the August ballot.
There are definitely difference in opinion whether it's a good idea.
"Sunday beer sales will promote more traffic. The state of Kansas is forcing people to go to Missouri to buy beer. The state of Kansas is broke," says Bob Blank, owner of Riverton Quick Stop convenience store.
"If we are willing to pass these measures we should be willing to give money to police departments because they are going to need it because of problems it's going to cause," says James Bean who is against Sunday beer sale.
Commissioners say approving the measure was the only way to potentially get the issue on the ballot for a public vote.
