JOPLIN, MO -- A Joplin church plans a fun-filled night for mothers in the area.

Joplin Family Worship Center is hosting an 80s-themed Mothers Day party called "Girls Just Want To Have Fun."

It will feature karaoke, massages, free jewelry and cash prizes.

The event is tomorrow from 7 to 10 at night at Joplin Family Worship Center located at 5290 E. 7th St. and is open to all area women.

Organizers believe it will be a good way to get minds off the one year anniversary of the May 22nd tornado.

"I was feeling a little bit of anxiety about mothers day for our community and so i thought the greatest antidote is to laugh and have fun just get through this together," says event organizer Cindy Wermuth.

Joplin Family Worship Center will also hold a Mothers Day service on Sunday morning at 10.
