JOPLIN - Realtors across the country are warning homeowners to hide prescriptions before hosting an open house.

They say drug addicts are using it as an opportunity to steal medications.

Realtors says you never know who will be entering your home.

"Open houses are the one time you can't guarantee to a client that a qualified buyer is coming through your door," Doris Carlin of Keller Williams Realty says. "If you have an open house you have to invite everyone in."

Carlin says virtual tours online are a better way to sell your home. She says these prevent robbery and promote safety.
