Joplin Child Endangerment Plea

JASPER COUNTY - A Joplin man pleads guilty to endangering young children. Miguel Castro-Maeda, 32, plead guilty in Jasper County Court and was sentenced to a suspended two year prison sentence. He is being held for deportation as an illegal immigrant. Police arrested Castro-Maeda in February after he left three kids under the age of 3 alone in an apartment. A person passing-by the apartment called police after seeing one of the kids crawling out of a window. Police say Castro-Maeda went to the store and did not take the kids with him. Authorities say the apartment was unsanitary, with cockroaches and food on the floors.
