Galena Officer Theft

GALENA, KS - A former Galena police officer is accused of stealing several pictures during a search warrant for narcotics. Spencer Coate, 42, is accused of stealing a framed poster of Joe Arpaio. He's a controversial sheriff in Arizona who is known nationwide for his hard stance on illegal immigration. Coate is also accused of stealing a framed picture of a duck.The incident happened in Galena back in June of 2009. Coate is charged with a misdemeanor count of depriving a citizen of his constitutional rights. According to Police Chief Larry Delmont he was fired by the mayor and city council in May of 2010 for an unrelated incident.
