For Joplin resident Stanley Ellis, Tuesday's Walk of Unity was an opportunity to not only celebrate the rebuilding of his city, it was a chance to celebrate his own life.

A few days after the May 22, 2011 tornado, Ellis celebrated his 64th birthday, and then suffered a heart attack.

Ellis says he was unable to do much physically after that, so this year he wants to show his support to the community.

Ellis and his fellow walkers left the Wal-Mart parking lot at 2:30 PM, on 17th Street, and traveled south to 20th street, where they began heading towards Cunningham Park.
