PINEVILLE, MO--- Ed Ables, owner of Sugar Island in Pineville, says he is expecting a big turnout for the next three days. Traditionally, Memorial Day weekend is the most popular time for floating and camping.
However, last year's attendance was down due to flooding. Ables says the high number of visitors to the area is beneficial for the entire community. Deputies with the McDonald County Sheriff's Office also say it's their busiest time of the year. They encourage people to have a good time but to be responsible, especially when alcohol is involved.
