Pittsburg Honors Service Members and Welcomes New Nurse

Second Lieutenant Rachel Patrick was one of them. She came to honor those close to her.
"It's very personable for me, because my husband and some of his soldiers that have been deployed and lost their lives," she says.
There was a special moment during the ceremony that Patrick won't soon forget.
"I've been waiting for it for four years since I joined the ROTC program," she says.
Her husband, Battalion Operations Officer Tyson Patrick, pinned lieutenant bars to her collar after she took her oath to join the U.S. Army.
"[It's] an amazing experience to be able to give her oath of office and swear her into the officer core I've been apart of," he says.
The pair have been married two years and have a son. Second Lt. Patrick begins training as a medical surgical nurse in August. She hopes to eventually work for the Army's burn unit.
