CARTHAGE, MO - The Carthage Chamber of Commerce celebrates 80 years in business. Tomorrow the group will hold an event to mark this milestone. It will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Carthage Chamber office, and all are invited to attend.

There will be free food, drinks, and of course birthday cake in addition to games and prizes. Membership director Neely Myers says the milestone makes a statement about the power of small towns."We're important to the community but more importantly the business community because that's our mission," says Myers. "Our goal is to promote business, and I think it just says that small towns are still here, we're still important and we can be fantastic and support ourselves," she added.

The chamber was incorporated on June 2, 1932 for the purpose of supporting local businesses in the area.
