JOPLIN, MO-- Hundreds of area legislative seats could change hands in the coming months. Election workers are finalizing details for the upcoming primaries. In addition to county and statewide officeholders, many state house and senate seats are up for grabs. Election workers warn that voters should do their homework before election day.
Jasper County Clerk Bonnie Earl said, "This is a ballot that they will want to look at in the newspaper, get a sample ballot - something and study it and know how they want to vote when they go in."
In the state legislatures alone, there are 470 seats available. That includes all 163 Missouri states reps and half of the 34 members of the senate. Every seat in the House and Senate in Topeka is on the ballot ... and in Oklahoma, all state reps and half the state senators are on the 2012 ticket.
