JOPLIN, MO. - Outlaws fans donated over 700 cans for the team's home opener last week. It's a way the team can give back each year.
"I have a strong passion for this game and I love people that come out and support us," Taylor Eaves, Outlaws second and third baseman, says. "They're able to give food. It's just a great thing."
While baseball games are seasonal, Soul's Harbor Director Joan Lewis says the need for food is continual.
"The needs are still the same in the summer as they are in the winter," Lewis says. "It takes all the organizations like the Outlaws and all the other organizations to help us help people."
Lewis says the food pantry gives out over 600 food boxes every month.
The pantry is always in need of canned goods, meats, and fresh vegetables. If you'd like to donate, you can drop off items at Soul's Harbor located at 915 S. Main Street in Joplin.
