A Pittsburg Man is Stabbed

PITTSBURG, KS--- Pittsburg Police were notified by Via Christi Medical Center, they were treating a subject who had sustained a severe knife wound. Officers responded to Via Christi where they learned that Jason Rakestraw of Girard, Kansas had been involved in an altercation in the 100 block of West 7th street in Pittsburg. Rakestraw reported to officers that the incident stemmed from an argument that occurred at the Break Pool Hall. Rakestraw informed officers his assailant was a black male subject. Rakestraw sustained a 13 centimeter cut to his throat during the incident.

At 1:00 p.m. the Pittsburg Police Criminal Investigations Division arrested Marquis Lynard Washington, 33, of Pittsburg, for the incident. He has been transported to the Crawford County Jail. Washington is charged with one count of aggravated battery. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
