CARTHAGE, MO--- Quincy Nelson and her brother Wyatt me be brother and sister but they're also competitive. They are both competing this year in the Jasper County Youth Fair in Carthage. Quincy has her goat, Rusty, and her brother Wyatt has his duck, Daffy.

"I like this duck. He's one of the ducks I rescued from the bunch. His mom got attacked by some coyotes," states Wyatt Nelson, 12 years old.

The 2 have been competing for "Best In Show" for 4 years, and the brother tends to win more.

"Yeah I win a lot," says Wyatt.

"Well my brothers won it most of the time. I've won it a couple of times," states Quincy Nelson, 10 years old.

The 2 compete with all types of animals.

"I have a goat, sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, and ducks," says Quincy.

The kids say these contests are similar contests to beauty pageants for animals.

"Well you have to walk and brush them. You have to get them all prettied up and stuff," says Quincy.

"It's fun we both work hard so it's hard to know who's going to win or anything like that," says Wyatt.

Paige Futrell is the goat judge. She says she is looking for specific things in the animals.

"We don't want em to fat or too lean. We want a really nice dressing coat, one that's long design," states Futrell.

She too competed with her brothers back in the day.

"I did, I wanted to beat them bad. You have those big fights in the barn. You want this pig, you want this goat," says Futrell.

During the shows the winner usually gets a few hundred dollars.

"We usually just split the money between us. If one of us wins we split the money," says Wyatt.
