JOPLIN, MO.--- Members say they are close to securing a temporary building. Right now they are without a current place to gather and pray. They must pray inside their own homes during Ramadan, one of the holiest months on the Islamic religious calendar. There will be many unanswered questions until the investigation into the August 6th fire, that destroyed their place of worship, is complete. For now, a spokesperson for the Islamic Society says their main focus is a list of outstanding costs like, demolition at the site, fees for rental space, and future relocation.

So far, generous donations have totaled $362,000. Society members say it's not yet clear how much insurance will cover because the investigation is still ongoing. A news conference in support of the Joplin Mosque is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 11 in Ballwin, Missouri. The Islamic Society of Joplin will also hold a prayer and luncheon for the community this weekend. They have invited the interfaith community and all who have helped support them, to the end of Ramadan holiday event held at the Hammons Convention Center this Sunday, August 19th.

The day will begin with religious celebrations at 9:30 in the morning followed by a community luncheon at 12:30 p.m.
