"Every time I look at him I just about break down in tears. I can't believe it."
Baby the cat went missing on May 22nd when Misty's home was destroyed.
"When I looked at him, he was being pulled out by the wind. The walls were down at this time."
Misty never gave up hope. She kept looking for more than a year after the tornado. She say's she'll never forget the night after the storm had passed.
"Looked around the houses, sat there in the middle of the sidewalk crying, screaming Baby. The lady across the road though it was a real baby."
April Brill helped reunite the couple. She's with the Joplin Tornado Pet Rescue. She spends her free time trying to find lost animals and she says the reunions make it worth the effort.
"Watching Baby react to Misty and watching Misty react to her little fur child. This was just something special. It was as if they had never been apart," states April.
"He immediately started putting his paws on my face. Loving me," states Misty.
April says that the group has been able to reunite several dozen animals and their owners after the tornado.
"They don't forget, they have been through trauma. They may be a little bit different than you remember. But they're animals and they still love you," states April.
Misty says even though a lot of time has passed, you still shouldn't give up hope.
"No mater how bad you think things can be, keep your hope and faith. Keep looking, they're out there."
