"We all went to Pitt State, graduated Pitt State. Pooling our money to make a big impact that we're really serious, it's a great cause," states Nancy Miller, Gorilla Girl.
The 3 day event takes place in Dallas, Ft. Worth. The walk is 20 miles a day over a 3 day period. It takes a while to train for that many miles.
"The average walker who trains for this walk, walks 585 miles in training," states Kathleen Stuckey, Gorilla Girl.
Kathleen Stuckey is walking for several of her friends and family members who have all lost their battle with cancer.
"They would be walking for me if the tables were turned," states Stuckey.
The Gorilla Girls average about 75 miles a week in training and they each have a goal of raising 25 hundred dollars.
"Support one another through good times and bad. No matter what the challenge. No matter what the condition. Just having friends that's what the walk is about," states Susie Lundy, Gorilla Girl.
"Everyone you talk to is willing to help. All you have to do is ask," states Miller.
The event will take place in November, but they plan on doing it again next year until there's a cure.
"Gorilla girls can take this show on the road. We can go wherever the 3rd day works with our schedule," states Miller.
