JOPLIN, MO.--- Leaders at the Mercy Breast Center held an official reopening ceremony at the new center. They also offered tours to the public. The new facility is located on the 2nd floor of the Thousand Oaks Surgery Center on West 32 nd. Administrators say it's bigger and has a more functional layout than the one on the St.John's campus, that was destroyed in last year's tornado. Other upgrades include private dressing rooms for patients, a new bone density measurement device, digital MRI, mammogram imaging technology, and a more convenient location.
"It's very easy access, you could ride right up to the front door and walk right in. If they need to have a surgical procedure that requires having some breast localization we can go right across the hall to the surgery center over there and do the surgery over there which makes it very convenient," states Curt Dandridge Jr. MD Mercy Breast Center.
Patients have also been awaiting the opening of this new facility. Dr. Dandridge says there was a 500 person mammogram waiting list when they opened the new office.
