SENECA, MO.--- "Just absolute disbelief. I saw my truck was painted both sides," states Mark Bennett, Mayor of Seneca.

Mayor Mark Bennett woke up yesterday to something he never expected would happen to him.

"My eyes of course adjusted and then I saw the whole house, front of the house was white and graffiti," states Bennett.

All the window screens were damaged and his garage broken into.

"They had been in the garage and her car was painted, end to end and all over pretty devastating," states Bennett.

Seneca Police Chief, James Altic says in his 20 years in law enforcement he's never seen a graffiti crime this bad.

"It wasn't just like they were trying to vandalize the house. What they wrote on the house was pretty disturbing," states James Altic, Seneca Chief of Police.

Because of the profanity used, we can't show you some of the pictures of the home before it was cleaned.

"What they spray painted all over the mayor's wife's car it was pretty egregious," states Altic.

"In one spot, they wrote mayor so they obviously knew who I was," states Bennett.

Bennett was just elected in April and hasn't had any problems until now.

"He didn't see it coming. He hasn't been into any disputes that we know of. We really don't know," states Altic.

Bennet is overwhelmed by the community's support.

"I just couldn't believe it. I had a yard full of people helping," states Bennett.

Residents helped the mayor and his wife clean up their cars and home nearly all day Thursday.
