JOPLIN -- More than 40 people braved the could for the the 8th annual "Hearts and Hammers Workday" Saturday morning. The group provides free home repairs for people who can't perform the work themselves. Volunteers did everything from paint hoses to demolish garages on sixteen homes from Joplin to Carthage. Volunteers and home owners say the program is a blessing for everyone involved. Materials for the repairs were either supplied by the homeowner, or were paid for by a grant from Wells Fargo Bank.
