PITTSBURG, KS --- The Southeast Kansas Humane Society in Pittsburg hosted the "Blessing of the Animals" this afternoon. Reverand Tom Wehrman of Saint John's Lutheran Church performed the ceremony for dozens of pets and hundreds of shelter animals.
Humane society members say the event is a great way for people to get involved with the shelter. "Any little bit of exposure we get through blessings, through our strong giveaways, through our chili dinner, all these... We pick up people that are caring," says Joanne Wenzl, Vice President of the Southeast Kansas Humane Society.
