JOPLIN, MO.----The METS Ambulance District purchased a new lot near the Intersection of East 32nd and Furgeson in Joplin. They plan to build a two bay station at this site to replace the one that was destroyed in last year's tornado. It will cost about 160,000 dollars to purchase the land and have the facility built. Construction costs will be paid for with money set aside from previous year's operating budgets. The new building will feature a kitchen, living room, four bedrooms, and an office space. METS Director, Jason Smith says this centralized location between Range Line and Main Street will allow them to provide more efficient services.
"It should mean quicker response times, and having the two ambulances down here, that will give us, if one is tied up thats going to give us another ambulance thats available to respond to calls," states Jason Smith, METS Director.

Construction on the new facility is set to begin next week and should be completed by this December.
