BRONAUGH, MO.--- Mayor Michael Millman and council member Andy Brannan resigned Monday in protest of 3 city council members deciding not to continue to enforce ordinance violations. Millman says the violation is having trash, weeds, and brush in yards. He took office in April and his goal was to restore the community to how it once looked. He says the city already abated 3 properties, and they were also in the middle of a legal case with another one. It cost the city about $4,000 to clean up those properties.
"We seen how much it costs and it's too dag'on much. The City of Bronaugh couldn't afford it, as far as the way I look at it," states Harry Pitt, City Council Member.
"However, the city treasurer voiced her opinion. Which I mean, she has no vote, but she voiced her opinion that we needed to proceed, the funds were there," states Michael Millman, Former Mayor.
Millman still has a year and half left on his term. Council members say they will appoint a new mayor at their next meeting in November.
