"Come on in and try my Big Wiener," states Travis Goodwin.
If Travis Goodwin wasn't wearing a hot dog suit, he might get arrested yelling that on the streets of Carthage. He's an understanding brother who is helping his sister out with her new business called, you guessed it "The Big Wiener."
"If it wasn't for my sister, I wouldn't' do it." states Travis.
It's a family business, Kristen Goodwin is the owner. She's dreamed of opening a hot dog shop since she was 10 years old. If owning a hot dog shop wasn't enough, she's also a bail bondsman.
"I sling weenies by day and get criminals by night," states Kristin Goodwin, Owner.
Her best friend, Carlen Baptista also works at the shop. She greets everyone that walks in the door with this catchy phrase.
"Welcome to the Big Wiener, how can we top your dog?" states Carlen Bapstista.
When you leave she's the last voice you hear.
"Have a Big Wiener kind of day," states Carlen.
She also is a bail bondsman and often gets calls when she's working on the dogs.
"This is my job away from criminals. I've been a bondsman for 5 years. So this is nice breath of fresh air compared to what I deal with everyday, I don't want to talk about it," states Kristin.
With so many restaurants opening and closing overnight the ladies wanted something that people will remember, even if the name is a bit risqu.
"Carthage needs risqu. Carthage has nothing risqu," states Kristin.
"They always come in and laugh, they have jokes and laugh," Baptista.
The ladies say they even combine their two jobs at some points.
"I always tell my criminals have you heard of the Big Wiener, we're kind of a big deal," states Kristin.
Don't forget about the poor brother, he spends about 4 hours a day out here recruiting customers.
"My buns get tired if I'm out here too long," states Travis.
