JOPLIN, MO.--- 6 NICU babies participated in the annual Children's Miracle Network Halloween Contest this afternoon. A team of judges from CMN rounded each room to view the adorable costumes including a ballerina, little red riding hood, and a biker baby. Winners received prizes such as a Diaper Genies, a book donated and written by a local author, and a handmade blanket. Organizers say the event has been going on for 13 years, and it's a special way parents and families can do something fun while their babies recover.

"To bring back some normalcy to these families. To bring some distractions from the obstacles that they're facing with their babies right now," states Edie Ingram, CMN

"Yes, a very good distraction. It's been a lot of fun. My husband and I sat down together and decked out the bikes and did that together,"states Kristy Rippel, NICU Mother.

In the end in was Sylus the biker baby who won 1st place, his mother, Kristy Rippel, says she can't wait to use her Diaper Genie.
