Problems at a Four State detention facility has many Southeast Kansans calling for a new jail. The Cherokee County Jail is almost 50 years old and problems with the facility have been building for the past two decades. Now, problems with jail plumbing is causing the transport of several prisoners to neighboring facilities. County administrators believe a new jail is as close to becoming a reality as it has ever been. Donna Wixon with the jail advisory board says planning is still in the preliminary stages.
