UPDATE: Drivers and Students, Injured in School Bus Accident

SPRINGFIELD, MO -- Authorities say 6 to 8 students from Webster Elementary School in Marshfield are being treated at Springfield hospitals today, following the crash of a school bus and passenger car in east Springfield.
Police spokesman Cpl. Matt Brown says the wreck happened after 9:30 at Chestnut Expressway and Cedarbrook, when the westbound bus collided with the car which was southbound on Cedarbrook.
Brown says both drivers were injured. The bus driver had "non life-threatening" injuries, Brown said. The driver of the car had serious injuries, but had been stabilized by paramedics on the scene, Brown said.

KOLR10's Shannon Miller said at least two dozen children were taken off the bus, two of them on stretchers. Brown said paramedics checked all the students over at the scene and some were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

SPRINGFIELD, MO -- Springfield police confirm there are injuries in an accident involving a school bus in east Springfield this morning.
It happened shortly before 10:00 a.m. at Chestnut Expressway and Cedarbrook, involving a bus from Marshfield. The fully loaded bus was in Springfield for a school field trip.
Police Cpl. Matt Brown tells KOLR10 News News the bus was westbound on Chestnut and collided with an eastbound passenger car. Brown says both drivers were injured and taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be critical.

"A couple of the kids were also take to the hospital, just to be checked over," Brown tells KOLR10 News. He said all the school students were off the bus and being evaluated by paramedics.
Brown says the Marshfield school district is arranging transportation to take uninjured kids back home. Parents are asked to call the Marshfield school offices for information about their child.
