CARTHAGE, MO.--- Plans are in development to add 2 traffic circles on Highway 171, but some question if the change will have much impact. Carthage Police say their Garrison roundabout is making a difference, adding it's extremely rare to see a wreck at their 9 year old site.

"When you have a complicated intersection, very busy intersection, people get confused as to the lights. Whether they can turn right on red and those kinds of things. It eliminates all of that. So basically it keeps traffic flowing which is a really good thing in a very busy area," states Greg Dagnan, Carthage Police Chief.

In recent years, roundabouts have also been added at the intersection of Highways 43 and 96, and just North of Interstate 44, Exit 1.
