JOPLIN, MO.--- 100 maple leaf trees were planted on Kentucky Street in Joplin thanks to volunteers from the Habitat for Humanity. The NASCAR organization wanted to help Joplin after the tornado. The gift of the trees is equal to about $50,000. Organizers say in a few years this neighborhood will be transformed.
"You guys had some of the most beautiful trees that were just destroyed and this will in a few years 10, 20 years. This will be one of the most beautiful street in Joplin," states John Berwald, Paradise Nursery.
Also, 5 families were given new Habitat homes on Kentucky Street, 30 houses have been completed since the storm.
