JOPLIN, MO.--- Street signs are finally going up in the area damaged by the 2011 tornado. About 2,000 will be in place in the coming weeks as CDI Electric of Pittsburg replaces those lost last year. Crews say the mild weather is helping to speed the process, and add they're also getting a lot of encouragement along the way.
"Believe it or not, we've had photos. We've had people cheering us. We've had video taken. People leaning out the window saying thanks and congratulations for getting the signs up," states Shay McLaughlin, CDL Electric.
The contract calls for all the signs to be up by the end of the year, but crews say they could be done by December 1st.
