JANE, MO.--- The first shovel of dirt was turned over by Crowder College today for the school's new McDonald County location in Jane. Crowder College will build a 25,000 square foot facility which will hold 8 classrooms and a new community center. School representatives say it's important for people in smaller communities to have access to higher education.

"That's the key word, access. Where they can get help with a GED, where they can get help in counseling, where they can get help and they feel at home," states James Tatum, Crowder College.

Construction will start in December, and Crowder hopes to begin classes at the new location by the Spring of 2014.
