CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- Leaders with the Harry S. Truman Coordinating Council presented a public transit plan to area transportation leaders yesterday. It looks at how people move around Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald counties with a major focus on the Joplin metro area. Their findings showed that some senior citizens, low income, and disabled people have trouble moving between different communities specifically Joplin, Carthage, and Neosho. The plan is aimed at improving future transportation needs.
"They can use the plan to see what gaps that they already have and look at what funding options are available to address any concerns that they may have," states Kim Varner, Communications Regional Planner.
In 5 years the council will revisit the plan and see if there's anything additional that needs to be looked at.
