NEOSHO, MO.--- Several hundred seniors crowded into the Neosho Middle School gym. It's all for the Senior Appreciation Luncheon and in this sea of seniors, I couldn't pass up the man in the black hat. His name is Robert Bradbury and he's been married 53 years to his wife Alice. They'll never forget how they met.
"I picked her out at the county fair," states Robert Bradbury, Married 53 years.
Alice says he was persistent on asking for a date.
"We just kept running away from him, he kept following me," states Alice Bradbury, Wife.
She eventually gave in and they say there's a trick to being married this long.
"I answer every question she asks with my yes ma'am, no ma'am," states Robert.
They say it's important to never go to bed mad or to sleep on the couch.
"I don't sleep on the couch. I made a practice not to sleep on the couch. I sleep in the recliner," states Robert.
They say its' nice to come to events like these to see friends they haven't seen in years.
"We like it, it's a lot to get out and see our friends and people," states Alice.
The couple says even though so many years have passed they are still very much in love.
"Actually when he first met me he was quiet and timid. I don't know what happened to him. Some days I wish I had that back," states Alice.
"She was a nice gal, doesn't cuss, doesn't smoke just nice and she still is," states Robert.
