JOPLIN, MO-- Local police take part in a statewide effort to crack down on seat belt violations. Joplin police joined agencies across Missouri in the "Click It or Ticket" project last Friday. Officers issued 14 tickets to those not buckled up. But it's not just a one day effort. Since the first of the year, Joplin police have handed out 1,929 tickets for seat belt violations. Officers point out they hope to cut down on a growing statewide trend of traffic deaths.
