COLUMBUS, KS.--- Cherokee County Sheriff Daivd Groves says his office now offers a texting service to keep residents up to date on wanted criminals in the county. Groves says many times people may pass by a fugitive in the community and not know it. This gives them a way to help investigators find people wanted by the law.
"They may not be actively going out searching for these people, but if they're at the grocery store and happen to see one of these people, they can give us a call, provide us with an anonymous email, and provide us with the information so we can go make an arrest," states David Groves, Cherokee County Sheriff.
Any Cherokee County resident can sign up for the service by texting "Wanted" to 888777. The service is free to sign up for, standard texting rates through your service provider may apply.
