Missouri Thanksgiving Weekend Highway Deaths Decrease

MISSOURI--- The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 1 deadly car crash on Wednesday in the Springfield area. In 2011, there were 4 deaths statewide. This weekend, patrol troopers investigated 350 traffic crashes. They made 140 arrests for people driving while intoxicated, which is up from 126 last year Sergeant Mike Watson says those numbers can be looked at 2 ways.

 "There's more people out there that were drinking and driving or that were impaired and driving or that law enforcement possibly had more of a presence this year than last year and a little more vigilant and made more arrests," states Sergeant Mike Watson, Missouri Highway Patrol.

There were 140 reported injuries, which is up from 125 last year.
