JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin School District hosted a work session today called "Rethinking Time." It focused on ways to improve learning by changing the amount of time kids spend in classrooms. They hope to create a new curriculum for students that includes job shadowing, evening classes and out of class projects. The changes will be implemented once the new high school opens.

"We think they'll be able to learn responsibility when things are a little more flexible. We think they'll be empowered to get through something and not have to sit through a class they already know the content of," states Dr. Angie Besendorfer, Assistant Superintendent.

Dirt work is currently under way for the new high school. It's set to open in August of 2015.
