WEBB CITY, MO.--- This is "The Nest," it's a before and after school cafe that offers healthy snacks to students and faculty. The store is the brain child of the entrepreneurship class, but it took a year to get it up and running. The students say since school starts before 8 a.m. many kids don't get a chance to eat breakfast, so they saw this as a fun way to meet a nutritional need and start a new tradition in the process.
"Its like a science lab for business and they are actually making business decisions and seeing how those decisions are going to affect our profit margin, and seeing how the students react, what is their profit margin. They are making real life decisions that are going to impact the store," states Amanda Eggleston, WCHS Marketing Teacher.
All money made at the store will cover operational costs, and pay back the nearly $5,000 small business loan they borrowed from the school district to cover start up cost.
