JOPLIN, MO.--- Corporal Chuck Niess with the Joplin Police Department was 1 of 13 members of the group to make the trip. He says much of his time was spent typing up daily reports, giving various relief teams goals for the day and important contact and safety information. Niess says not only was he able to apply knowledge he learned following the May 22nd tornado, it also helped prepare him if another disaster hits Joplin.
"I already knew all of these people, I've trained with them quite a bit, so it worked out well. There were a lot of new people on the team that had never been to a disaster, but the team meshed very well and it all worked out very well," states Corporal Chuck Niess, Joplin Police Department.
Corporal Niess joined the Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team 3 months ago. This was his first deployment.
