PITTSBURG, KS.--- A recent study by PSU biology professor, Jim Triplett estimates 30 to 40% of Pittsburg residents do not subscribe to a trash service. So 2 weeks ago the Pittsburg City Commission appointed select trash service providers, city officials and recycling experts to create the Solid Waste Task Force. The group met tonight for the first time ever to discuss how they will approach the city's trash issue.

"We always need to be figuring out how we can make our community better, how we can make it cleaner, and make a stronger community, not only for new residents but the ones that have lived here for years as well," states Blake Benson, Co Chair of Solid Waste Task Force.

The Solid Waste Task Force has 90 days from tonight to present a solution to the city commission.
