LAMAR, MO.--- Crews are already moving dirt where the Lamar Municipal Airport new runway will be. The current runway only allows single engine planes to fly in and out of the airport. With the new runway, twin engine planes will be able to use the airport. Right now crews plan to work until Christmas and then starting working again in the spring. Unless the warm weather continues, which would help the project get complete sooner.

"They may be able to continue on through the winter which may allow them to get done a little quicker," states Lynn Calton, City Administrator.

The city is stockpiling some of the topsoil from the groundwork and use it for future projects. The city administrator estimates it will save the city about $20,000.
