JOPLIN, MO.--- Today, at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce holiday open house, local chamber leaders announced they there were awarded a 5 star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. It's the highest level possible and is given to local chambers that meet certain operational and programming standards. Earning this designation comes with an extensive review period that can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

"There are only about 3% in total of the nearly 7,000 chambers of commerce in the United States that go through the accreditation process because it is long and it involves a lot of people," states Rob O'Brian, Joplin Chamber of Commerce President.

This is the 5th consecutive year the Joplin chamber has received this 5 star accreditation. Joplin and St.Joseph are currently the only chambers in Missouri with this title.
