JOPLIN -- Officers with the Joplin, Duenweg, Duquesne and Seneca police departments held the annual "Shop With a Cop" event Saturday morning. Through donations and fundraisers, he officers collected more than $11,000 to buy whatever toys and games the kids wanted. Organizers say shopping with the children is a great opportunity to get to know those they are sworn to protect.

"Where we come across kids, it's usually in unfortunate circumstances," says Joplin police detective William Davis. "This opportunity helps give us a chance to help kids and let them see a different side of the officer."

To make sure everything went smooth, St. Nick cast a watchful eye over the proceedings, and brought smiles to the kids' faces while doing it.
